"Women and children are not market goods. This discriminatory trade makes fair coexistence impossible. This slave trade is happening right here in our midst, in enlightened, modern Germany."
Peter Aumer, MP
"Coercion, violence, sexual exploitation and the despicable business of human trafficking: This is how prostitution in Germany currently looks like for the vast majority of prostitutes. In order to change this, a different legal framework is needed in which the person makes himself or herself a criminal offence, who enriches herself through the purchase of sexual services from the dependent relationship of the prostitute.
But this alone is not enough. We need comprehensive exit assistance and prevention programs for the women and men affected. This is the only way they can break through the prevailing compulsion in prostitution. The Nordic model is a building block on this path. Germany must not continue to be the brothel of Europe. Prostitutes need better protection."
Leni Breymaier MdB
"The so-called Nordic model is a way of raising awareness and supporting the opt-out of those affected and society, and making the clients responsible. Let's finally put an end to the lie of self-determination and see the realities: human trafficking, exploitation, Trauma - for a miserable twenty years now."
Michael Donth MdB
"I find it unbearable how the situation for women in the sex trade has developed as a result of the legal "normalization" of prostitution. Obviously, it is urgently necessary to follow the successful path of the Nordic countries as well."

"Prostitution Research & Education has provided evidence-based research on prostitution and trafficking for 20 years. Wirth our international partners, we have published 50 peer-reviewed reports on prostitution. Our research, and that of many other scholars and exited survivors, suggests that if governments want to eliminate sex trafficking, the best legal
approach is to abolish the institution of prostitution, while at the same time providing alternatives. Thus far, 8 countries have chosen this abolitionist legal approach to prostitution. Prostitution Research & Education strongly supports a legal approach that 1) provides government funding for exit services for those seeking to escape prostitution, 2) decriminalizes the person who is paid-for in prostitution, and 3) arrests men who purchase sex."
dr Maria Flachsbarth
President of the Catholic German Women's Association (KDFB)
“Forced prostitution turns women into commodities, sexual and financial exploitation is a particularly brutal and inhuman form of violence. The acceptance of a ban on buying sex, the punishment of clients and the protection of prostitutes are therefore necessary new legal regulations. Women affected by forced prostitution need our solidarity, our voice for justice and a decent life.”

"Human dignity is inviolable. Respecting and protecting it is an obligation of all state power." But not here, not here, not in Germany, not in Berlin. In our beloved city, there are no longer any universal human rights for women who are forced to work in prostitution because there are violent pimps and human traffickers who force them to do so. Here and now, of all places, the legislator is making it easy for pimps and human traffickers to take advantage of the plight of Ukrainian refugees. That is NOT acceptable! We are At a time when we pay attention to the correct, gender-appropriate use of language If we don't want double standards, we must first of all ensure that women are no longer subjected to violence - not even in prostitution.
It's time to face the truth: There can be no talk of self-determination when there is a shortage of money and when people are at the mercy of extortion and without protection.
One thing must be clear to us: This is about nothing less than slavery, because nothing else is forced prostitution!!!
Time's up!
Time's up now!
Time is up!
The time is up now!
My heart is strong for the observance of our human rights. Germany can no longer be "Europe's brothel" just because pimps have a lot of power and money and means to make forced prostitution possible.
Glorification of forced prostitution?
NOT WITH US!
That's why I'm committed to the Nordic model and am a solidary member of Netzwerk Ella and other organizations that are committed to making prostitution for so-called clients a punishable offense again."

As general manager of Renovabis - that is the solidarity action of the German Catholics with the people in Eastern Europe - I have gained many insights into the plight and desperation of the victims of human trafficking in Southeastern and Eastern European countries.
In view of this outrageous injustice, Renovabis co-founded an "Action Alliance Against Trafficking in Women" more than 20 years ago. To this day, Renovabis, together with many others, is pursuing the goal of making the general public aware of the facts and networking experts in the fight against human trafficking. It is therefore with interest and sympathy that we have the founding of the
Alliance Nordic Model accompanied. Personally, I would like to expressly support this initiative, because we need more sensitivity and energy in the fight against human trafficking.
Jasmina Hostert MdB
"Most of the time it's women who are forced to sell their bodies through material pressure or physical and psychological violence. Mostly they come from other countries, from Eastern Europe, from the Balkans. Instead of burdening them with the burden of the Still having to prove that their suffering was compulsive and illegal, the Nordic model reverses the situation.
It is as simple as it is effective: penalty and burden of proof for the profiteers. Support, exit assistance and prevention for those affected. In my opinion, the Nordic model offers the best protection for women, but also for men, LGBTQI people, young people, for everyone who is affected by human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the prostitution system. Women's rights, the protection of minorities, human rights, the fight against organized crime and human trafficking - in all of these areas, the model would bring Germany forward. That's why I'm committed to the model as a woman, as a migrant and as a person."

"The Nordic Model Alliance does very important socio-political work. It was a great pleasure and honor for me to be able to support the event with my closing speech.
No one has the right to buy and use another human's body! We must not leave people who are being exploited in this way behind. A strong alliance in society is required to accompany the victims out of the destructive relationships with their exploiters and the dependence on exploitation. We want to stand up for that."
The speech can be read below Facebook post from 04.09.2022.

“The situation in prostitution in Germany has become unbearable. The image of the self-determined prostitute as an entrepreneur is in most cases an illusion. The increasing human trafficking in this area, as well as the hopeless situation for an overwhelming majority of women and men in prostitution show that things cannot go on as they are at the moment. The Nordic model shows in many European countries that there is another way. It is time that we create a suitable model for Germany.”
Yvonne Magwas MdB
Vice President
of the German Bundestag
“It is time that Germany also followed the Nordic countries and the recommendation of the European Parliament and introduced the Nordic model. The development shows: Legalized prostitution promotes human trafficking and sexual exploitation, Germany has thus become the “brothel of Europe”. Instead, we finally need a decriminalization of prostitutes and a general ban on buying sex and brothels. This is the right way!"
Prof. Ursula Mannle
Social scientist, former member of the Bavarian State Parliament, former member of the German Bundestag, former Bavarian Minister of State for Federal Affairs
"I support that Alliance Nordic Model, because in Germany, too, the idea must prevail that the purchase of sexual services contradicts human dignity."
Beate Müller-Gemmeke MdB
"It is said to be the oldest profession in the world. In truth, in the vast majority of cases, prostitution is violence against women and brutal exploitation. And from my point of view, it prevents real equality.
Prostitution is therefore not a job like any other. Only a very small percentage of all prostitutes can choose their clients. Everyone else has to take what comes. And they have to do what is asked of them. Around 80 percent of these prostitutes experience this as coercion, violence and exploitation. Something has to be fundamentally changed here, and that's why I support the Nordic model."
Maria Noichl MEP
Member of the European Parliament
As an MEP in particular, I need to see that prostitution, and the different national regulations, has a cross-border impact on women, their rights and gender equality. We therefore urgently need to act at European level.
Voluntariness is often not as voluntary as we would like to believe, but is closely related to poverty, a lack of prospects, but also the exercise of power and fear. We must stand with women in prostitution, not with pimps and clients. So I support that Alliance Nordic Model.
Jens Peick MdB
"Most prostitutes experience violence, have neither social nor health insurance - many are victims of human trafficking. At the same time, pimps, clients and brothel operators benefit from a system in which people are exploited. Our task must be to protect the prostitutes and stop human trafficking The Nordic model is the way to go for that."
Nadja Sthamer MdB
The Nordic model offers the best conditions to help women caught in the spiral of human trafficking, poverty, heteronomy and violence. As a member of the German Bundestag, I am committed to enabling women to lead a self-determined, equal life. This includes that no gender can dispose of another by buying it. We must stand with the prostitute and not with the client. That's why I support the Nordic model.
Per-Anders Sunesson
ehem. schwedischer Sonderbotschafter für die Bekämpfung des Menschenhandels
Hello, my name is Per-Anders Sunesson and I am the former Swedish Ambassador at Large for Combating Human Trafficking. Addressing demand for women in the prostitution industry by prohibiting the purchase of sex is of outmost importance. The prostitution of women is not acceptable for many reasons. Prostitution and sex trafficking make up a harmful, pervasive, illegal, and violent criminal industry involving pimps and traffickers who are tied to organized crime. The prostitution of women is clearly in conflict with human rights, prostitution is inherently abusive – it´s clearly a form of violence of women. I therefore strongly support the important work that Das Bündnis Nordisches Modell is doing advocating for the adoption of the Nordic Model in Germany.
It is from my point of view – knowing the facts about the consequences of legal prostitution – hard to understand that Germany still allow the purchase of sex, brothels and pimps. A change of legislation in Germany to the Nordic Model is important not only for all of them who are being legally exploited in the sexindustry in Germany but such a decision would also be important globally since many countries who allow purchase of sex refers to Germany when being criticized. So please – join me - support the important work of das Bündnis Nordisches Modell!

"I am of the opinion that the vast majority of the prostitution industry is characterized by human trafficking and forced prostitution. I am therefore committed to introducing the so-called Nordic model here too: not the prostitutes, but those who want to buy sex have to be criminalized. There needs to be better exit offers and a well-founded education of the population on this topic."
Dr. Volker Ullrich MdB
"It's a matter of dignity. Our society should finally rethink and get away from the fairy tale that prostitution is a "right to self-determination and a normal job like any other". Very few women prostitute themselves voluntarily: human traffickers lure them in a financial emergency.
We must protect them as best we can from dangerous, inhumane business models and permanently strengthen those government organizations that offer advice and exit assistance. Even if (forced) prostitution does not abolish itself: The Nordic model could improve the situation of women by prohibiting the purchase of sex, decriminalizing prostitutes, punishing the customer and offering counseling for those affected. We must not let up and must do more to combat human trafficking and forced prostitution.”
Sabine Weiss MdB
"As a society, we have to ask ourselves the question of whether we can continue to allow people to be bought like goods. In my view, the now intolerable conditions in our country in the context of legally permitted prostitution clearly violate human dignity. That's why I support that
Alliance Nordic Model. There must be a social rethink to protect those affected and for human dignity."

“Prostitution is violence against women, strengthens human trafficking worldwide and must be fought with commitment and courage. The Norse are showing us… let’s do it.”
Annette Widmann-Mauz MdB
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the CDU in Germany
“The political and legal handling of prostitution leads to the fundamental questions of human dignity, self-determination and equal rights.
A woman's body is not a commodity and prostitution is not a profession like any other. The majority of women who work in prostitution do not do so voluntarily.
They prostitute themselves out of poverty, dependency and desperation. They are often forced to do so, blackmailed, deceived and threatened. They suffer severely from the physical and mental consequences for the rest of their lives.
Anyone who wants to effectively combat sexual exploitation, abuse, forced prostitution and human trafficking cannot avoid restricting and punishing the demand for sexual services. As long as women can be degraded, humiliated and hurt for money, there will be no equality."
Elisabeth Winkelmeier-Becker MdB
"The Nordic model is suitable for curbing forced prostitution and putting a stop to human traffickers. It is also important to me that we as a society say: women are not goods! One should not simply buy the humiliation and sexual exploitation of women can.
The attempt to make a clear distinction between self-determined and forced prostitution has failed. With its liberal legislation, Germany has become the brothel of Europe, combined with a dramatic increase in forced prostitution. In favor of the few sex workers who work voluntarily and on their own account, the protection of the much more numerous victims of forced prostitution must not fall by the wayside."
