Alliance Conference 2022

Alliance conference on September 3rd and 4th, 2022

The third alliance conference on September 3rd and 4th, 2022 took place again in cooperation with the Gustav Stresemann Institute in Bonn. The focus of the conference was:

Necessary development and expansion of exit assistance and European networking

to reduce human trafficking

According to the 1949 UN Convention for the Suppression of Trafficking in Persons and the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others, the preamble states: …[that] prostitution and the attendant evil of trafficking in persons for the purpose of prostitution are incompatible with the dignity and worth of the human person are.[1] Prostitution is gender-based violence against women and runs counter to gender equality. Therefore, prostitution affects not only those who (have to) be prostituted, but all women. Liberal laws encourage human trafficking for sexual exploitation, hiding the suffering of victims under supposedly legal structures. Only a European solution can curb human trafficking and reduce demand in the long term. The questions to be addressed together are which measures are required to further expand and expand exit assistance in Germany and what efforts must be made to ensure that the core elements of the Nordic model are adopted by all European countries?
